The Ospreys have returned!

For those of us that live here on the shore, we know that spring is here when the ospreys return. We all check on our local nests as we drive or walk past them in hopes of seeing some sticks start to appear or better yet the actual beautiful birds. Here is a picture of the nest nearest my house that I pass every day on my way to the White Swan. As the season goes on, we will see them create a large nest that will take care of them and the babies. It is so exciting to see their little fluffy heads pop up as one of their parents flies in to feed them. It is amazing how fast they grow and before we know it, we see them learning to fly! On your next visit be sure to check out the nest that is at the foot of High Street just 2 blocks away!

Other signs of spring are happening too! The flower beds and trees in the Swan’s backyard have started to wake up from their winter nap as well. There is still a chill in the air but it won’t be long until guests are enjoying the patio and the front porch.

The Farmer’s Market on Saturdays is getting bigger and bigger too as more vendors and artisans return to join the winter die hard vendors. Don’t forget to bring your coolers so you can take home some of the fabulous offerings!!
